Serengeti NP | Ngorongoro Crater | Tarangire NP

This tour will take you to the most visited destination with high wildlife concentration and amazing sceneries. This place is characterized by the large herds of elephants, tree-climbing lions, and the fascinating baobab trees. In Ngorongoro, some 20,000 mammals live including about 20 black rhinoceros, making the crater the best place in Tanzania to see these amazing creatures.

Places to visit: Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara National Park

Day 1: Arusha -Tarangire National Park
We leave Arusha for Tarangire National Park. This park covering approximately 2600 square kilometers is spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife species come back to the permanent waters of the Tarangire River. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, eland, and oryx gather to stay in Tarangire until the onset of the rains when they migrate again to good grazing areas.

Accommodation and meals: Maramboi Tented Lodge

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
After having an early breakfast, we depart for the Ngorongoro crater and arrive in time for lunch. Ngorongoro’s caldera shelters the most beautiful wildlife haven on earth. The rich pasture and permanent water of the Crater floor supports a resident population of some 20,000 to 25,000 large mammals. They are not confined by the Crater walls and can leave freely; they stay because conditions are favorable. Since most of the Crater floor is grassland, grazing animals predominate such as gnu, zebra, gazelles, buffalo, eland and kongoni (Coke’s hartebeest), and warthogs.
Accommodation and meals: Marera View Lodge

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park/Arusha
We depart in the morning for Lake Manyara and arrive around lunchtime. Lake Manyara is known for its tree-climbing lions and has the most pachyderms per km sq. in Tanzania. As visitors enter the gate, they pass into the lush forest, home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. Buffaloes and hippos also lurch in the adjacent Hippo Pool. The vegetation eventually merges into a flat-topped acacia woodland where, in the heat of the day, lions can be seen stretched on the branches of these trees – a habit prevalent to Manyara lions. Later in the afternoon drive back to Arusha

Serengeti Wildebeest Migration Safari

Serengeti NP | Ngorongoro Crater | Tarangire NP

Categories: Tanzania, Top Safaris, Great Migration, Luxury Lodging

Serengeti Wildebeests Migration is a display of natural wonders with over two million wildebeests, zebras, and antelope traveling over 450 miles across the plain to ensure their survival, unaware that there’s the danger presented by the stalking lions and cheetahs among other predators of the wildlife. Witness huge crocodiles of the Mara River as they wait for the herbivorous to cross the swollen Mara river and enter Masai Mara Game Reserve from Serengeti National Park.

The wildebeest migration river crossing in August moves north, passing through the Lobo area (north of Central Serengeti National Park) and the Wogakuria area (remote northern Serengeti National Park along the Mara River) en-route to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Day 01: Arrival – Arusha

Arrival at JRO Airport. Our guide will meet you and facilitate the transfer to your hotel.

Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Arusha Serena Hotel

Day 02: Serengeti National Park (North)

After breakfast, transfer to Arusha airstrip for your flight to Serengeti North which will depart around 7am and arrive at 10 am for a game drive in Northern Mara. Serengeti, among other incredible wildlife and stunning views, is famed for the annual migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest and a hundred thousand zebras, a frenzied bout of territorial conquests and mating happening from July-October. Witness an actual survival of the fittest as these animals plunge through crocodile-infested waters. The wildebeest produces more than 8,000 calves daily before the 1,000 km (600 miles) pilgrimage begins again.

Meals: B,L,D
Accommodation: Mara Mara Tented Camp or Similar

Day 03: Serengeti North (Kogatende)

After breakfast, we depart for Serengeti North for a game drive viewing the great migration. River crossings at Kogatende start in August as the mega herd settles into the area. Between August- October, game viewing is at its best with river crossings pretty much guaranteed every day. There is no distinct movement as the herds tend to cross back and forth over the river, following the rains and subsequent fresh grasses.

Meals: B,L,D
Accommodation: Mara Mara Tented Camp (Luxury)

Day 04: Serengeti North (Kogatende)

After breakfast, we will proceed for a full day game drive viewing the great migration at the Mara area. Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in the Wagakuria area. The key feature is the Mara River and there is a great chance to see the herds cross the Mara River to the north on one day and back south a few days later. Please note that it can be very difficult to witness crossing and is sometimes a matter of luck. A herd can be seen next to the river and only decide to cross a couple of days later. This area is a stunning region with kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation, and open plains, similar to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Meals: B,L,D
Accommodation: Mara Mara Tented Camp or Similar

Day 05: Serengeti National Park (Northeast)

After breakfast at the camp, we drive to Serengeti East, Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park and a world heritage site. The Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers an amazing game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands of elands, topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant’s gazelle.

Meals: B,L,D
Accommodation: Serengeti Migration Camp

Day 06: Serengeti Central (Central Seronera)

After breakfast, we will have a full day game drive in Central Serengeti. Apart from the large mammals, Serengeti is also home to gaudy agama lizards; Rock hyraxes’ scuffle around the surfaces of the park’s isolated granite kopjes. Wide varieties of dung beetle were found, and around 500 bird species have been recorded ranging from the outsized ostrich and bizarre secretary bird of the open grassland to the black eagles that soar effortlessly above the Lobo Hills.

Meals: B,L,D
Accommodation: Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge or Similar

Day 07: Serengeti Central (Central Seronera)

This is another full day game drive at Serengeti National Park, known for its healthy population of resident wildlife, particularly the “big five”, named for the five most prized trophies taken by hunters:

Lion: the Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem.

African Leopard: these reclusive predators are commonly seen in the Seronera region but are present throughout the national park with a population of around 1,000.

African Elephant: the herds are recovering from population lows in the 1980s caused by poaching and are largely located in the northern regions of the park.

African Buffalo: considered by many to be the most dangerous of the big five, reportedly causing the most hunter deaths, with wounded animals reported to ambush and attack pursuers.

Rhinoceros: this may refer to either black or white rhinoceros. Among big five game hunters, the black rhinoceros is preferred, although it is now critically endangered.

Meals: B,L,D
Accommodation: Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge or Similar

Day 08: Ngorongoro Crater Tour

Southern Tanzania Safari

mikumi NP| Ruaha NP | Selous Game Reserves

Highlights

This safari tour will let you explore two of Africa’s largest game heavens in this Southern Safari Circuit of Tanzania: Ruaha and Nyerere National Park with a pass for overnight and shallow game drive in between the parks at Mikumi National Park.

Day 1: Arrival Dar es Salaam

Arrive at Dar es Salaam International Airport, met upon your arrival and greet with our representative and transfer to the city center overnight.

Accommodation and meals: Dar Es Salaam Serena Hotel-FB

Day 2: Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, drive from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park with packed lunch for a game drive. Mikumi is Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park. It’s also the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. With almost guaranteed wildlife sightings, the open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the popular centerpiece of Mikumi, draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Head back to the lodge late afternoon for overnight.

Accommodation and meals: Vuma Hills Tented Lodge-FB

Day 3: Ruaha National Park

Today, we head to Ruaha National Park where we will have a game drive in the afternoon. This is a more extensive ecosystem, which includes Rungwa Game Reserve, Usangu Game Reserve, and several other protected areas. The name of the park is derived from the Great Ruaha River, which flows along its South-Eastern margin and is the focus for game-viewing.

Ruaha is believed to have a high concentration of elephants than any National Park in East Africa. It is also a place where, magnificent mammals like Kudu, Sable, and Roan antelopes can easily be spotted in Miombo woodland. The park is also a habitat for endangered wild dogs. Other animals in the park include lions, leopards, cheetah, giraffes, zebras, elands, impala, bat-eared foxes, and jackals.

Accommodation and meals: Ruaha River Lodge-FB

Ruaha National Park

Day 4 & 5: Ruaha National Park

After breakfast, you dedicate these days to Ruaha for morning and afternoon game drives. You will have all meals at your lodge. Ruaha National Park (10.300km²) is the most visited National Park in the southern part of Tanzania. Due to its size and the fact that the South of Tanzania is less visited than the northern parks, you still have ample space and you will see hardly any safari vehicles.

Ruaha National Park forms a border between Africa’s eastern and southern ecosystems. Here you will find kudus, which you will find seldom further north, and during the same time, you can see grant gazelles that reach their southernmost breeding area. The source of life in the park is doubtless the Great Ruaha River with its huge numbers of crocodiles and hippos.

Accommodation and meals: Ruaha River Lodge-FB

Day 6: Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, we head for a game drive en route back to Mikumi. This is to make our way to the Selous Game Reserve the following day as Mikumi is bordered to the south with the Selous Game Reserve, the two areas forming a unique ecosystem.

Accommodation and meals: Vuma Hills Tented Camp-FB

Day 7: Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve)

After breakfast, we head towards the Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve) through the Matemwe gate. After Morogoro, you will leave the tar road and drive along the Uluguru Mountains through remote villages. Depending on our time of arrival, we can go on a short game drive or you can spend this day relaxing in your lodge and preparing for 2 full days of safari in this reserve.

Accommodation and meals: Rufiji River Camp-FB

Today, you drive through the northern part of the reserve which is open for photo safaris.

On the way, you have plenty of time for unique wildlife encounters in this unspoiled environment. Besides the typical residents of the African bush, you can spot up to 400 different bird species. However, it is not always easy to see animals and birds because of the dense vegetation. Optional Activities such as walking in the wilderness or boat cruise can be arranged at extra cost.
