George Munge

Founder & Safari Expert

George founded Northland Tanzania Safaris after 14 years as a safari guide in Tanzania and Kenya, being guiding at all levels, he knows what works and what combinations of areas and accommodations will give you the best safari at the best price.

He has a very traditional Maasai background: He’s one of 6 children, and his late grandfather is a distinguished tribal elder who killed lions and leopards to protect his family and property. Sadly, economic circumstances prevented George from going to university, but his first love was the bush, and today he guides guests in an area that is barely ten miles from the village where he was raised. His eyesight, hearing, and tracking ability are second to none—even among his fellow Masai

George’s invites you to join him on a journey into the Ultimate African Adventure. One day however a small line of blind text by the name of Lorem Ipsum decided to leave for the far World of Grammar. The Big Oxmox advised her not to do so, because

Vicent Mwaimu

Safari Guide

Vicent is passionate about wildlife and guiding, like a safari guide with over 12 years of experience. Tarangire National Park is his favorites place to guide due to the “almost untouched wilderness”. You feel very private while on safari in Tarangire, whether it is walking or driving, and the game viewing is productive.

You have a good chance of seeing some special species like Oryx, Kudu, as well as there being a big population of elephants and Baobab trees which dotted the park and make it very unique.

One of Vincent’s most memorable sightings occurred in the Tarangire while he and his guests were observing a mother cheetah and her sub-adult cubs. “All over a sudden, the female cheetah raced off on the hunt for a Thomson’s gazelle (mother and young). The Thomson’s gazelle lamb was easy prey for the cheetah but what happened next was incredible. We witnessed how she brought back the lamb to her cubs and released it for them to practice hunting and catching their own prey.

As cruel and harsh as this may sound, this is nature at work and we watched this scene for over an hour, fascinated by the learning process that the sub-adult cheetah was going through.” Join him on his journey to show you the wild wonders of Tanzania.

Asterick Buchafu

Safari Guide

Asterick has been a safari guide for over 16 years and has lived most of his life in Arusha. He was born and grew up on the shore of Lake Tanganyika (the second deepest and fresh lake in the world after Lake Baikal in Russia) before he moved to Arusha. He joined Northland Tanzania Safaris in 2017 as a freelance safari guide and later added his experience as a tour leader to the team. Asterick thrives on the fact that every day is different, and he enjoys watching the ever-changing faces of nature during each season – “it’s not like watching a movie, this is real!”

Asterick’s best safari experience was in the Serengeti, while he and his guests were patiently watching a cheetah. Suddenly a Grant gazelle shows up, obviously unaware of the predator’s presence. The cheetah had a lucky day and didn’t have to run far for its lunch. As the cheetah was feeding on the gazelle, it was fascinating to watch the vultures start appearing from ‘nowhere’. And some hyenas follow the move where the vultures are going to land. Eventually, the number of vultures and few hyenas was too much for the cheetah and they took over the kill from her. Within less than 30 minutes there were just bones remaining. It just shows how patience in nature pays off.

“The amazing diversity of landscape and species makes a visit to Tanzania absolutely worthwhile. I am looking forward to meeting you and sharing some of the beauty of my country with you. Maybe next time on the migration crossing the river… Karibu Sana”

Amini Kweka

Safari Guide

Amini is proudly Chagga tribe from the Kilimanjaro region one among the fifth-biggest ethnic group in Tanzania, he is one of our safari guides team who has worked his way up through several pieces of training of walking and guiding in Tarangire national park.

After he obtained a Diploma in professional tour guiding and leadership, in 2021 he started off at Northland Tanzania Safaris as a safari guide taking guests to different safari destinations in Tanzania. Due to his development and increased wildlife knowledge, Amini became a fully licensed safari guide and walking safari guide.

One of Amini’s most interesting sightings was in Lake Manyara National Park where he and his guests observed some interesting behavior of a vervet monkey grooming an olive baboon. This inter-specific behavior is unusual, but it is these types of sightings that make every safari different and helps one realize that it is not only about the Big 5 people are always focusing to see. Therefore, Amini enjoys taking guests on a walking safari, so as to be closer to nature and to observe many of the overlooked aspects of our wonderful wilderness.

Amini says “Karibu Tanzania” (welcome to Tanzania) and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and experiences with you in a safari vehicle as well as on foot on this wonderful continent of East Africa.

Frank Wilfred

Safari Guide

Frank was born in and grew up in Arusha where he calls himself “my home city” and from a young boy, he knew that he wanted to be a safari guide one day where he was inspired by his uncle who is a safari guide for a decade.

Occasionally he got the chance as a boy to go into the Serengeti with his uncle and other family members to see lions as promised by his uncle. This was an amazing experience for a young boy, and he would come back and tell everyone his story. His thirst for knowledge resulted in him joining Northland Tanzania Safaris on the guide training programs which is done every offseason; He is very happy spending a lot of time in the bush since he loves all aspects of our natural environment and enjoys sharing his knowledge with everyone.

One of Frank’s best wildlife memories was the first time he saw the wildebeest crossing the Mara River in the Northern Serengeti. He couldn’t believe how the wildebeest would jump into the river swarming with crocodiles and it was intriguing to see how driven they were by the need to follow food and water. Nature’s instinct is amazing.

“I am constantly learning more and more about the wonderful natural world and I would be honored to share my knowledge and experience with you – one is never too old to learn. Tanzania is a very peaceful country and we try our best to protect our natural wonders.” Karibu Tanzania!!

{Mara River} It is here where he has been fortunate to witness “the wildebeest crossing”. In his own words: “This is where a wildebeest applies for its visa to enter into Kenya and only the strongest are granted entry. The harsh reality is that many are washed downstream by the river current, some are trampled to death in the frenzy and others break legs attempting to get across, but nothing goes to waste and the crocodiles rely on this annual feast for their survival and watching the herds zig-zag across the Serengeti’s plains”

Nixson invites you to join him on a journey into the Ultimate Africa Adventure.
